'By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.' Hebrews 11:31
Chapter 11 in the book of Hebrews got some fascinating texts about the Heroes of Faith. The writer records the names of Patriarchs, Judges, Prophets, Kings whom the people knew well. To their surprise, the writer also includes a gentile woman (Rahab) who was a prostitute by trade.
The text says she wasn't killed with the disobedient people, but how? She lives among the Israelites to this day (Joshua 6:25). Jericho's entire city was put to the sword except for Rahab and her family because she showed her faith towards the God of Israel by saving His people - the spies.

The uniqueness of her faith lies in the circumstance she exhibited-because having no clue about the spies, she accommodated them. And a situation arrived to prove her patriotism when the king sent a messenger revealing the real colour of the guests she welcomed. The moment she heard the name Israel her Faith Antenna was activated and tuned. It seems like she has been waiting for this day. So instead of being patriotic, she tricked the soldiers but hid the spies (Joshua 2:2-7). She did so knowing the city she lives is awaiting God's judgment and going to perish.
Rahab's Statement of Faith:
The Lord has given this land (Jericho) to you: Even the Israelites didn't have much faith to believe and thus fallen dead in the wilderness.
We have heard how the Lord dried up the Red Sea: She recalls an incident that happened 40 years back. The original recipient of this miracle was fallen dead because they had no faith.
What you did to Sihon & Og: She keeps a record of God's peoples' victory to have faith in their God.
For the Lord, your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below: Faith entered her to see the one True God.
Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, like the city of Jericho, which was under God's wrath, even the earth we live is waiting for the judgment of God and will perish soon. Rahab escaped the wrath of God by identifying herself with the people belonging to a Covenant and embraced their faith. Likewise, we who believe in Christ have Faith in Him till He returns!
When the Son of Man comes, will he find on this earth anyone with Faith? Luke 18:8 (CEV)
